Currently...

...Planning a ROAD TRIP to Ireland (for next week!) and need some ideas on must-sees. I've been to Galway, which is lovely...but what else? I need your help, bloggers.

...Getting over a sickness. Hopefully not that damn bronchitis acting up again!

...Writing my dissertation. Literature reviews are deadly. This makes minimal time for blogging [insert sad face]

...Smiling over the silliness of my birthday weekend!

What have you been up to??

  1. Galway would actually have been my number one recommendation if you hadn't already been :) I guess it depends on what you're looking for and where you're flying into to. County Mayo - just above Galway - is really beautiful too. It's quite rural but has some lovely spots if you're not looking for party central :) Westport is a really cute town there and Achill Island is beautiful too and there’s plenty of outdoorsy things to do if that’s what you’re after. County Kerry in the south is one of the most popular tourist areas in Ireland – it has a very picture postcard feel with some breathtaking scenery. And Cork isn’t too far away either for a bit more hustle and bustle. It would probably be an idea spot for a road trip as there’s so much to see in a reasonably condensed space. You can’t go wrong with Dublin either– it’s such a vibrant city. But if you do go, steer clear of Temple Bar as much as you can – it’s basically just tourists and drunken stag/hen parties. If you let me know where you eventually pick I can try and be more specific with recommendations :)

    1. Great comment, HM. I will, in fact, be in Cork. And I am going to Dublin as well. Figured I shouldn't miss out on this time. I was also thinking Dingle?

  4. I think Krystal is talking about the Aran Islands are you? Yes, definitely but only if the weather isn't toooooo bad. It's okay if it's cold, but if it's very wet/ windy it's bleak out there and there's very little to do inside only drink.

I hope you have a lovely time Ashley and can't wait to hear about it xx

  6. What a fun road trip you have ahead of you! I lived in Ireland for six years (and was just back there last month) so if you need any Dublin tips or advice, give me a shout! :)

  7. I would second Cork. Its the one place I wish I had spent a little more time in Ireland. Though it struck me as less "Irish" than other places. What about the Dingle Peninsula? Or if you're especially adventurous, the Skellig islands? Skellig Michael is a World Heritage Site and is reputed to be an amazing sight. You could see the Ring of Kerry on the way.

  8. The Dingle Peninsula is beautiful! I did it with my dad and sister some years ago.

BOO HISS to literature reviews. Mine nearly killed me, but I guess I did learn from doing it. At least it's good that you guys are already working on your theses, We didn't start until May.
