Simply Horrifying
I like morbid things, and I make no apologies for it. So when it came to choosing between a cute or scary costume for Halloween, the choice was quite clear...
(Yes, I had to apply creepy filters). When Churro (below) first saw me, he barked his head off at the scary dead thing entering his territory. This made me laugh in triumph! If I can scare children and the dog, I've won...mwahaha!
Churro eventually warmed up to me again and realized I just had given myself a bad makeup job.
Lainey and I joked about how we were on the exact opposite spectrum of Halloween costumes--girly vs. creepy.
First order of the night was listening to the band above, who were dressed up as a demented Wizard of Oz cast--brilliant! They sang "Pretty Zombie" instead of "Pretty Woman."
It wasn't just me and Lainey hitting the town, we had other costumed friends to accompany us:
A perfect way to end a good Halloween weekend!
P.S. I found instructions for my skeleton makeup on YouTube...try it out next year!

Jack Skellington
And this (whatever you call this)!
...He's staring into your soul...
Nerd alert!
Even lego man humored me by posing for a photo!
All in all, a GREAT Halloween where I got complimented on being perfectly creepy.
All of that evil energy worked up my appetite the next day. Swami's helped revive my humanity. Glad to say I'm totally back to normal now:

Favorite Thing Thursday
1. Ryan Gosling Bathroom
The most ingenious idea for wallpaper in a ladies' bathroom, EVER. Like the line for the toilet wasn't already long enough! You can find said bathroom in Downtown San Diego at a bar/club called Bang Bang. Fitting.
2. This
As in, the moment when a sunset becomes twilight. Probably my favorite time of day.
3. Dressing as a Zombie
For Halloween, but why not all the time?
What were some of your favorite things this week? Did they involve chewing on flesh?

Fall Pinterest Party!
My crafty friend Rachel (who is taking the speech therapist world by storm, check out her blog!) likes inviting people over to do crafty things.
Whilst I usually like to join in on crafts, I just lounged and watched other people being crafty while I ate the good food. Don't judge me. I had seen Prisoners earlier that day and it took all the creative energy outta me (see my review).
Rachel called it a Pinterest Party because some of the snacks and crafts were inspired by good ol' Pinterest. Take a look, find some inspiration!
A sort of witches' brew that Rachel made. It bubbled up when you poured in club soda. Brilliant!
Rachel, Miss Crafty Pants.
Tux was ordered to stay in his crate at first, but we had to let the guy out. I mean, look at those eyes!
I suppose my "craft" was creating this blog post. =)
And in case you're wondering, yes...Rachel is one of those "Pinterest People" that makes everything perfect and amazing looking. I mean, it's utterly disgusting. But I forgive her for it because we've been friends a long time. And sometimes she makes me stuff.

Favorite Thing Thursday:
What started out as writing about my favorite things has become a gratitude list of sorts. It's all a good reminder for me that life is brilliant, and you've got to get your head out of the sand to notice the brilliance of it all.
Here are a few of my favorite things...
1. Learning new languages

So excited! My Turkish class starts tonight! And really, I think learning new languages should be implemented early on in American schools (think elementary school). We are far behind other countries in this realm. I often meet people from other countries that speak 3 different languages. And I speak...um...one. Yeahhhhhhh. Let's fix that!
2. Halloween!
I went for a sort of china doll costume.

My dress was found in a thrift store, and is originally from the 60s. Lainey is dressed as a sweet lil' gypsy.
3. Finding Robots in Everyday Life

Another robot soldier I can recruit to help me take over the world and implement my evil plan...I mean, what?
