The (Happy) Blues

I noticed the other day that I take/post a lot of pictures of the ocean. Even though I grew up by the water for most of my life, I'm still always amazed at its ability to calm my nerves, force me to realize my size compared to the vastness of the universe, and wash away any negative attitude. Baby blue, I really do love you!

Cheers to a relaxing weekend, friends...I know I'll go for a swim (it's still deathly hot in San Diego).

A Cold Beach Day

Sometimes, I really enjoy wandering on the beach on cold days...

Days like these are the best kind of days for thinkers and dreamers, for which I am both.

By the Bay

I had some time to kill before church today, so I figured I would kick it by the water. The day was already perfect, so I knew it would be a good idea. I drove down a random, unfamiliar street that eventually stopped right at the edge of a bay. There was exactly one parking space--one space reserved for me.

I stepped out of my car and instantly felt a peace take over my body. I wish I would have taken a picture of the scenery. But I left all electronic devices behind. This was a time for me to unwind after a busy, tiring week; this had to be just me and nature.

I don't think I can explain the moment I had today, but it was a moment that rejuvenated me. A moment where God nudged me on the shoulder and said, "Hey kid, don't stress yourself out. I got this for ya." A moment where I realized how small I really am. Too small to understand exactly how the world works, yet alone try to control it. Us humans are silly for trying to control our lives so much.

Looking out into the water today, I saw the world working perfectly. And I'm not in charge of any of it. Fittingly.

Learning how to work within the world puts me at ease, instead of trying to make my own, contrived way. Sometimes you just gotta take the time to gather your thoughts by the bay, and let the surroundings tell you the answers.

Tick Tock Tick Tock

There's a lot more waiting in job searching than I realized there would be.

I applied for a job about 10 to 12 days ago, and didn't hear anything from them (even with the knowledge that this company is getting ready to hire about 500 employees at a time). So I called up the HR department to see what was up. The lady pulled up my application on the computer and said, "Well, they haven't even viewed your application yet. We've had over a 1,000 applicants."

At least they hadn't rejected me yet!

But what does a girl do with all this idle time? Well, for one, I've been cleaning a lot. Going to the beach a lot. Trying not to spend ANY money if I can help it.

If this goes on for too long I am very slowly going to lose my mind.

So, today is going to be another beach day. ALL DAY LONG. Sun-bathing with my friend Sonja (an exchange student from Norway) then a bonfire with a small group.

Maybe the beach is the only thing keeping me sane?

I'll walk along the damp sand that hugs the water's edge and beg the tide to take my stress and worries with it to the end of the world. Better yet, to the bottom of the sea, where all the bottom-feeders can have at it :)

catching some rays

Summer is turning out to be as healing as it promised to be. There's something about going to the beach, laying out in the sun, and taking a minute to look around at your surroundings that really relaxes the soul.

Summer Reading: The Da Vinci Code to see what all the fuss was about...entertaining read so far.

Summer Job: Applying to work in childcare. I know, it requires a lot of patience. But it's a different kind of patience one must have to work with customer service. And I am so over customer service...

Summer Plans: The beach. At least 2 to 3 times a week. What a mantra to live by!! I just have to avoid sunburns...haha, that's hard for a white girl like me!!!

Hot in Herrrrrrre

I'm gonna go see Sweater Guy today. Well, if he's there, that is...he doesn't have a phone, so it's not like I can actually contact him.

But I haven't seen him in two weeks. And I miss him a little. But I'm not upset over it or anything. It's like I'm going to go see an old friend...except he's more like a recent friend. ha.

Did you know? It reached 103 degrees in San Diego yesterday. That's sacreligious! Cause perfect weather is totally San Diego's religion.

I think I may have to go to the beach today. I don't really have a choice. The ocean shall be my lover today. And what a gorgeous lover it is.

Red, White and Watermelon.

My apartment is lonely right now...I hate that!!! I hate being the only one home. It kills me sometimes. I guess I just really like being around people. Cool people, that is.

Went to the beach on the 4th of July. It was WAY crowded. Apprently some 50,000 freakin' people visited San Diego just to go to our beaches. Dude. Go get your own beach and leave mine alone.

hahaha. That's the united, patriotic spirit to have, huh?

I guess I'm slightly grumpy because I am sunburnt. And I got hit on repeatedly by guys yesterday (like every girl in a bikini). How do you tell a guy nicely that you don't want to give him your phone number? I just can't say no sometimes.

Funny short story: I was wearing this pink/green sun dress at the end of the night and one guy (ahem, one drunk guy) came up to me, gave me a big hug, smiled and said "you look like a big watermelon!"

hahahahahaHAha. That made me laugh. He thought it was hilarious, too, and joined me. Hahaha!

I guess, in reflection, I can say that America is a very, uh, special country. We've got some real idiots, including myself. But we are lovable idiots. Indeed.

Put your hands where my eyes can see, yo.

So, you guys are gonna laugh at me, but I'll tell you anyway.

You know the show Total Request Live, right? Yeah, that show. Well it was in San Diego yesterday...and what did I do? I went to it.

I can make fun of myself, don't worry, cause it's quite funny.

And let me just say, the 13-year-old teeny-bopper in me secretly wished that *NSYNC would magically appear. Cause I used to watch that show when they were around, and yeah, I was a big fan. OK, a HUGE fan.

Did I honestly just mention that? I guess I have to reveal my secrets sooner or later.

ANYWAY...Ashlee Simpson was on (who indeed had a visible nose job...and I mean REALLY visible). She seemed nice, but fake mostly. So fake that during one part of the interview I wanted to cut off my arm and throw it at her, just to stop her from talking. But what did I expect from the Simpson family anyway? Not much. And that's what I got.

The GOOD part of the show was seeing Busta Rhymes perform, 1. because he's kind of lovable, and 2. because he's a KICK ASS performer. He controlled that crowd. And I love to dance, so I highly enjoyed it. I'm not even a big fan of rap! But it was great, really. I got down.

All I have to say is that it's funny to see what people wear, say and do to get on T.V., and it kind of makes me sad for America. What's the big deal anyway?

In the end, I got to dance and go to the beach at the same time...so it was great. I went to TRL and I'll admit it, damn it!!!!!

Ahhhhhh...sunshine, sand and ocean...here I come!

I decided to change my picture to something smiley--cause hey, that's how I'm feeling.

And yes, I'm going to the beach today...no maybes about it (hear that, McMullan?).

Sometimes my life is grand.
