A coworker recently suggested Jeff Buckley to me, based on the music I like now. I had never heard of him before. Dude, he is honestly amazing. His songs are a menacing blend of pain and other-worldliness. You can literally feel the heartache in these songs...
I found out that Jeff, in fact, died in a drowning incident.
If you were unaware of Jeff's greatness like me, take a listen and tell me what you think:
ahhh yes. jeff would appear in many a top 5. in fact, i'm sure 'grace' was in my top 100 albums list. he was brilliant.
ReplyDeleteHis version of Hallelujah is my all time favorite song. .. Although it has been played to death in so many TV-shows.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite song from Jeff Buckley has always been "Everybody Here Wants You". Very R & B Inspired, my favorite all-time Buckley song.
ReplyDeletehe's decent. requires too much focus for my brain right now though. i'll have to check out more stuff later. when i'm not so tired.
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of him, either. I went on YouTube & checked out his other songs, too..
ReplyDeleteHe is different and definitely talented. But I also find that I am now feeling depressed after listening to his music.
I have a natural tendency to feel depressed or be pessimistic - something I am always battling against. So I don't think an artist like this is good for people with my personality type.
The irony is that I am best at performing these slower, more reflective-type songs. But what I LISTEN to is salsa music and other upbeat styles, because they lift my spirits.
